All kinds of updates…
13. August 2008 by admin.
Well, I really should update this more often, but the kitchen has been so dirty and full of stuff. Tonight I am going to seal the grout so I figured it would be a good time to clean up a bit and take some pics!
First off, about a week ago I finished the oven installation. It fit in pretty nicely, only needing a filler piece right above the oven. It works great and was christened with a frozen pizza. ![]()

The last couple days has consisted of putting together the pantry and fridge surround. I amr eally happy how it turned out, it really gives the fridge and pantry and solid/finished look. Getting the fridge in the kitchen by myself wasn’t fun (Katie is in Chicago) but its nice not having it in the living room. I also hooked the radiator back up and put the framing back around the window. I had to make a new sill since I tore it apart getting the old one off.

The dishwasher is installed and attached to the side cabinets….. spotless glasses!

Hood Vent and Warming Drawer installed!
6. August 2008 by admin.
The granite guy came yesterday and did some measuring and in the meantime I finished putting the warming drawer in (Kenmore Elite) and the vent hood. It is a Zephyr hood, model Venezia. It has 6 speeds, 2 halogen lights and is routed outside. I was able to pick it up off of craigslist a while ago for a steal! It is so powerful, that when you put it on speed 6, you can literally feel the air rushing in from the dining room, through the doorway and up into the hood. There were even some pieces of dirt on the “counter” that were being lifted up. :) heehee
The cooktop is temporarily sitting there so that granite guy could see it and so I could make sure it would fit. The burners and knobs are out in the porch.

Grouting and cabinets in
4. August 2008 by admin.
All the grouting is done on the tile now. Its still not completely cured and I will see it in a week or so. It took me about a day to do it as you have to clean up as you go. There is still some residue on the floor that has to be washed up.
Also.. all the cabinets are in!!! They are from Ikea and these are just the frames. They will be covered with doors and cover panels to give them the actual finish. The finish will look like the corner shelf and the one pull out drawer in the picture. Its an antique stained pine. THe dishwasher is just there so I could get the spacing exactly right before securing the cabinets to the studs. Today (I took these pics yesterday) I installed teh warming drawer and a few undercabinet lights too. Oh yeah, the stainless steel wallplates are installed now too.
The granite guy is coming tomorrow to do a template, then Katie and I will have to go to the granite yard and pick out the slabs that we want.

New window installed
1. August 2008 by admin.
Today I picked up the custom replacement window from Lowes and installed it. Dad E. and I measured the opening so it would have a nice tight fit when installed. It went in really easy and works great!
