Only 1/4 of the square left to go!
6. December 2008 by admin.
It took a while to choose a color for the living room, but we decided on Stone Brown using Sherwin Williams paint. I had to do a lot of taping over cracks that had formed around doors and windows. Then, I mudded all of the walls with a setting type joint compound that you have to mix. Its a lot stronger and will hold instead of cracking with the old walls. All of the trim also got a new fresh coat.
We also replaced the pillows, light fixture, and got a Dalyn wool rug. We plan to replace the entertaintment center at some point to complete the room.
A new programmable thermostat!

Wine Shelf/Rack
6. December 2008 by admin.
I’ve been looking around for a shelf system that could hold wine bottles and glasses, unfortunately I couldn’t find anything that fit the space in our dining room, so I decided to make something!
I basically bought a 48″ stair tread from Lowes and some 1×4’s. I already had the wine bottle holder pieces from an old bottle rack, I just had to strip and cut them to fit this piece. All the wood is held in place by Gorilla wood glue. I pre-stained all of the pieces before gluing them on and then after doing a little touch-up staining, I applied a single coat of satin polyurethane. The iron brackets I got off of ebay and then painted them. I only have one complete, but the other one will be identical and will be placed under this one. Turned out fantastic!
